I often get to visit and eat out in St. Catharines and am looking for recommendations in any price range and any cuisine. I've been disappointed with Bansaree and Wellington Court Cafe. (Where to Eat in Canada is going in the trash!) Mom has heard good things about a new family restaurant called Sadie's, and a Middle Eastern place called Weenab. Generally, we go to Kristen's or Touch of India for special occasions, or head to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Today, Mom and I tried take-out from the new and elegant Dinh Dinh restaurant on Geneva St. (corner of Church St.) For $34, we got #100 special fried rice (rather bland), szechuan fried beef (battered and tossed in a hot 'n' sweet 'n' sour sauce with distinct pineapple flavour) and a special request not on the menu: bok choy with fried tofu in oyster sauce. Perhaps the server or the chef misunderstood, but the bok choy and tofu certainly didn't contain any oyster sauce, and they charged an exorbitant $10.95 for this rather ordinary creation. After we ordered, the assistant manager, Ken, suggested the sizzling platters, corn and crab soup, and a few other dishes, which we'll try next time, hoping for a slightly better experience. The dim sum menu served 10-5 daily, looks promising.
