Checked it out, finally. Sat in the back against the wall and was comfortable enough. But the row of crowded tables along the side, with backless stools, seemed punishing.
Blue cheese burger was about as good as a burger can get. Perfectly cooked, juicey, meaty and ample. Shoestring fries, though, were miserable. After all, when you julienne potatoes so fine and then deep fry them, what's left? Certianly not flavor. They may as well as served shoestring cardboard.
A special starter of steamed cockles in a very rustic tomato-based broth was a little too sharp for my palatte, but still satisfying.
The Italian sparkling wine I tried (forgot the name)was superb, as was the Spanish red (Perlat). Dessert was, literally, forgettable. Service was extremely friendly and, despite the in-place vibe, without attitude.
