New Specials at China Star

James G | Mar 18, 2005 07:58 PM

I just had dinner at CS and there is a new set of specials at long last! I had checked online this morning, but the menu that they recently posted has nothing in common with the menu at the restaurant. I ended up ordering the much-ballyhooed fish in bamboo basket (which is actually not on the menu, but which they were only too happy to provide, and which I noticed several other tables had also ordered) as well as a salt-pepper shrimp from the specials menu, along with the tried-and-true Sichuan chili chicken.

The fish and shrimp were great (my partner even stated that he would "eat a bumper if you could cook it in the fish's combination of spices"), and the chicken was good, though not as good as usual, plus the portion was smaller and the chicken was meatier than normal (odd that this is a negative comment). I did not get a chance to peruse the specials menu on site, but when it is posted on line I'll provide a translation.
