I've been away from the Board for a number of weeks (vacation etc.) and was surprised there was no discussion of the South Street Districts "8 Days of Eats" which starts Tuesday. Trying to copy the Restaurant Week for Center City and the similar one in West Philly, they gathered up lots of restaurants offering $15.00 and $30. dinners. The problem is that MOST of the restaurants did not provide their special menus. (that's response from the SSD when I asked).
There are a few posted on the site (www.southstreet.com) and a few are strange. Bridget Foy's is giving you appetizers and a drink. Tommy Gunns is doing a BBQ sampler and a drink (non alcohol) for $15.00 (a bargain??) Ansil was the only more upscale place to post anything and it only says it's a "sampling" of their small plates.
So... are any other CHs planning to do these and has anyone garnered any info on the menus. Seems like the restaurants are hurting themselves.
South St. Souvalki is listed but Tom (the owner) does dinner for two for $30.00 (yep comes to $15.pp) EVERY week - Tuesday-Thursday and it's great.
Anyway, I'm curious to hear from others thinking of doing it.
