Soup etc. at Broad and Beaver Streets

I visited the wintertime soup cart set up at the corner of Broad and Beaver Streets and had a very enjoyable lunch of the Chicken with Dumplings soup and the Beef Chili. Prices are $3.50 for a 12 oz. cup, $4.50 for for 16 oz. cup (one dollar extra for the beef chili), which come with a small soft roll. The broth for the chicken and dumplings was very flavorful and the dumplings were fresh tasting, not too chewy or soft. Chunks of carrots and celery were also present. The beef chili was made with tender ground beef and slices of jalapeno peppers in addition to kidney beans, tomatoes and onions. It hit just the right balance of flavor and heat, for me anyway (and helped clear my stuffed nose -- it was spicy hot, but not to the point that it overwhelmed the flavors of the chili).

Overall, just a very nice lunch option for very little money.
