A while back I noticed that Phoenix Inn (which I always thought of as a dingy place with dingy food and surly service)had posted a menu of new offerings on the window of Szechwan and cantonese Dishes. A look inside confirmed that they've redecorated a little bit and it's slightly less dingy - I don't know if they've changed owners or not, but then the new menu was gone off the window recently.
I went in to see if I could find out if they were still offering these and found out that they are and they have a couple of printouts around if folks are interested, included among them are "Pan fried inkfish (hot!)", "Fried pork stomach silk", "pork silk with szechwan muspickle and pickled cabbage" - oh, and the reception while I tried to get a copy was still surly.
My question is has anyone tried stuff of this menu, is it still cooked with same lack of noteworthiness as the old phoenix inn, or have things changed?
