Song Que now Song Long - new name, every bit as good

Just Visiting | Nov 18, 201412:35 PM     3

We were worried about the sale of Song Que to new owners but as of now, it turns out we worried for nothing. We had three bahn mi today and can report that they are as good - if not slightly better - than those we had at Song Que. The menu and all else remains the same. We had the pleasure of meeting the new owner and his daughter. They know that Song Que was very popular and apparently, we weren't the first to suggest that the secret to success would be to change nothing. So we had lemongrass beef, grilled pork, and meatball. All three were excellent. The meats and vegetables were top notch and flavorful. There was a bit more filling than was the case with Song Que. The bread was not equal to Song Que's best, but we found that the bread at Song Que varied, with the best - crusty and light - being rare. More frequently, the bread had a softer crust. The bread today was like that - softer crust. Pretty much the same as we've found at DC Banh Mi. The sign outside is not yet complete - they removed the Que but have not yet added the "Long."

The parking lot was chaos because half of it is closed off, presumably for re-paving. Though it has been this way for weeks. We were nearly alone in the restaurant - one other person was eating in and two people came in to order while we were there. I hope everyone will try Song Long and give them as much business as they did Song Que because otherwise, we risk losing this place altogether.
