Single-diner-friendly restaurants?

Eric Wolf | May 5, 200307:41 PM     4

I'm sure this has been covered in the past, but my sfchowsite search didn't come up with much (probably used the wrong keywords of "dining alone"?). I'd love a link to previous discussions, thanks. As for the dining I seek, I just love to try new or notable anything (from ethnic to high-falutin). But I find not every restaurant is friendly to the lone diner, especially at dinner-times. Eating at counters or bars is okay, but I really do love the ceremony of table service too.

Thanks in advance.
