Had a very good tri-tip sandwich at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Marysville, Calif - First Street - dining outdoors in their brick patio. The meat and bun almost made it to the finish line together - pretty good meat flavor and tender to the bite. Not worth going out of your way, but when in town it is a good menu pick to try.
Part of our annual August Marysville Peach circuit - Dinner at the Silver Dollar and Breakfast at the continually charming Brick Cafe in the historic downtown of Marysville.
This little town is a diamond in the rough, has so much going for it, yet remains neglected and off the radar. It has all the makings of becoming a certified historic architectural district - it was the leading city in Calif during the Gold Rush and has still a lot of good bones and remnants of better times past. It seems like it should be just begging to be a foodie destination - farm to table - much like the recent renaissance in Los Alamos.
Glad to see the Brick Cafe took advantage of the inherent charms and just added a very nice casual patina to what was already there, to become the community meeting spot.
Not worth going across the river to Yuba City to "the famous" Brocks for ice cream - pretty bad stuff ,but it has plenty of local followers. Better off finding a frozen Dove Bar at a gas station vending machine.
