Siam Authentic Thai (Regina)

Bagel Guy | Nov 26, 200802:23 PM

Last week we were in Regina on business for a couple of days, and we found an incredible surprise. Who would have thought there would be excellent Asian food in Regina? I certainly didn't finds any in the past 20 years of trying. But we have now discovered Siam Authentic Thai (1946 Hamilton St.), which is a genuine hole-in-the-wall. But ... oh, our meals were delicious.

For an appetizer, we shared the deep fried calamari and onions served with a Thai chili sauce. The calamari and the onions were every so delicately done with a nice tempura batter. The calamari was perfectly done (!) as were the very tasty onions.

For mains, Miss L ordered the Panaeng Gai (curry chicken), which was tender and perfectly done white chicken meat in a tasty green curry and creamy coconut milk with lime leaves (oh, so nice!), and mushrooms and pepper corn. She loved it, and my small taste was absolutely delicious.

I ordered the Kanom Geen Gang Keaw Wan ... a delicious rice vermicelli and green curry chicken served with veggies. The dish was perfect in flavors, delicacy and enough to fill you up. The service was perfect, polite and unpretentious. The price was right.

This wonderful little Thai restaurant can compete with any of the best Thai places in Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver. I'll certainly go back again.
