Shipping perishable foods

Anyone have any experience/suggestions regarding shipping perishable items (in this case, bottarga--dried mullet roe)? This particular item needs to be kept cool (though not necessarily frozen). Would gel packs do the trick if I send it overnight? Would dry ice be too cold (and where would one get dry ice anyway?).
