As next month has no "r" in it was time to get my oyster fix. Thanks to all for reminding me of this place as I used to pass by it all the time but somehow never managed to get there for a visit.
Sat at the bar and was greeted by friendly and professional bartender who pours a solid drink and watched as the shucker did his stuff. I never walked beyond the bar but the brick-walled dining room looked like a comfortable place to enjoy a meal.
My friend and I had a healthy variety of East Coast oysters, that really did match the descriptions on the oyster menu. The shucker served the plate, patiently pointing out which oysters were which. I enjoyed the ones from Maine, was less impressed by the Canadians but my faves are still the Long Island Blues.
The oysters comes with 2 sauces, cocktail and a thin brown one that resembles soy sauce but wasn't. Our request for extra horseradish was gladly and quickly filled. My friend and I didn't care for the brown sauce but I'm curious to know what it was if anyone can clue me in.
Final note, my friend order the clam chowder and though she thought it sported a good flavor, was a tad dissapointed. The chowder really was more like a broth and not the hearty, creamy chowder that she had hoped for.
Still, a great meal and place. Thanks all!
