Shabbat hot plate question

I have an electric hot plate and even though it feels hot to the touch it takes a long time for my food to warm up. (To clarify I am referring to food that I take from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before we eat shabbat lunch). Are there specific pans that would help the food warm up quicker? I have been using foil pans and or Pyrex dishes. My hot plate is set to high. Thanks.
