Set dinner for ten or more at Parc Hong Kong

Last night I met with a group of 12 to try out a large set menu dinner at Parc Hong Kong. I picked the $188.00 with a few changes. The staff was willing to allow me to make the changes.

We tell them that we would be 12 and to increase the amount of food to serve that number.

We started with a Chew Chui cold platter, we increased the size of this order, Seaweed, Jellyfish, Duck tongue, Five Spice Tendon, Mock Goose was some of the dishes. There was enough for all of us to try.

We had Crab Meat and Fish Maw soup. This was outstanding lot sand lots of Fish Maw in a lovely broth. In a good version you would get 25 percent fish maw and crab meat. But this version really had more fish maw and crab meat than the broth. One of the best I have had.

Cold Salted Free Range Chicken, which was a little salty since we had no rice to serve with it at the time. But the green onion, garlic and ginger mixture that came with was excellent. We use four dishes of this to go with the chicken we kept asking for more.

Next served was the Pork Trotter served with Spinach and Fat Choy. This to me was the highlight of the meal. The chef had skillfully remove the all the bones without the hocks losing it shape. The favor was very good. Not too sweet more of a savory taste than some of the Shanghai ones we have had. The Fat Choy was a great touch and gives it wonderful texture and taste. This was not on the menu which was requested by me. Only Jai Yun had removed the bones like this.

Two Salted and Pepper Crabs, the batter was light and this time had a stronger salt and pepper taste. Much like R&G version, the set menu called for steamed crabs but I changed it to this. The batter was light and the favor was better this time. I had ask the Manager to make the favor strong for this dinner.

Sweet and Sour Pork Chinese style, there are two versions as Chow Fun like to point out. Real one and the other for those who do not know better. It was good not too much sauce.

Beef Tenderloin Stir Fry with Onion and Western Broccoli. The beef was very good but I would have like a more if they had used a Chinese vegetable.

Mock Abalone with Large Pea Leafs, I requested that they change the Bamboo Pith with this Mushroom. This version was good but you knew it was real abalone. It looked like the real thing but you could taste it was not. I have had better version, but it was good.

Sautéed Rock Cod with XO Sauce and Snap Peas, the fish was fresh and had a wonderful texture.

Desserts, Watermelon, Sweet Red Bean Soup no pearls just the red bean and lotus seeds and two type of cookies.
The cost of this meal was $228.00, so they charge us forty dollars for adding two people, special mushrooms and two trotters. I think it was a great meal for the price of $26.00 per person.

I did notice they offer a whole suckling pig for $168.00. I discuss the size with the Manager and he said the whole pig would be about 6 to 8 pounds. But I could have a order for about $20.00.

The food was very good and the price was good.
