Sepal Disaster

Sciencechick | Nov 30, 2005 07:20 PM

It really pains me to post this, as I used to really love the falafel sandwiches at Sepal.....so we decided to have a full meal there tonight. Started with a decent lentil soup--pureed and served up with lemon wedges. Everything went downhill from there. An appetizer combo with hummos and babaganoush was horrible. Hummos way too garlicky and grainy w/no obvious tahini flaver. Baba even worse....small chunks of flavorless eggplant, not smokey at all. Moved on to an entree plate with falafel and tabouleh. Falafels dark with thick crust, indicative of reheating in old oil. Tabouleh had an overall green palor (pureed parsely?) with hard unripe tomato chunks. The topper was when we asked for some olive oil and were handed a cruet of pale, almost clear liquid. Olive oil???? We didn't bother to use it, but I couldn't resist just tasting it....RANCID!!!!

We will never go back....sadly.....
