SEA: Roy's BBQ, Columbia City

not-the-bad-Steve | Jan 29, 200404:25 PM

Visited this 3-month-old, 6-foot-wide spot last night and met the charming proprietor. Had the following:

chicken sandwich: truly amazing--soft bun, very nice sauce, and the freakin' juiciest, most tender chicken thighs I've ever had on a sandwich, even more so than those on the chicken thigh sandwich served by Paseo's newer downtown-Fremont outpost

hot link sandwich: same good bun and sauce; sausage was tasty, but a bit dry for me; I'd say that the hot link sandwich at Pecos is moister and better

chili cheese fries: these weren't bad, but nothing to write home about, despite the fact that the fries were fried just-in-time

He also offered us a taste of his brisket, which we agreed was too dry for us.

I'd go back in a heartbeat for another chicken sandwich, and to try the pork. He said he expected to soon begin offering ribs.
