help for a former SD resident...need ideas for a b-day dinner

Hello San Diegans,
I am a former San Diegan who has, to my woe, been living on the east coast for about 7 years now. I am thrilled because I get a couple of trips back this spring, one right near my 30th birthday, so I'm looking forward to a fabulous dinner out with my family. I want to make sure none of our old standbys have gone downhill and see if there are any new standards that we need to check out. I would love seafood, a view, and the kind of California-atmosphere I miss. I would like it to have a special feel to it. I also would like to at least have the option of some pretty interesting and innovative cuisine as well as more traditional options for my less hound-y family.

We in the past have been huge fans of (both for atmosphere and food) Jake's Del Mar, Bully's (somewhat of a family tradition), the Marine Room, and the Green Flash in PB.

I was thinking about suggesting Peohe's, maybe the new Mr. A's (we used to go to the old one a great deal, especially for their happy hour) and my mom mentioned a place at the Hotel Del (I think she meant Sheerwater, but not sure.) Mom also suggested the restaurant at Sea Lodge next to Marine Room.

I picked up on Region, The Third Corner, and Parallel 33 from recent reading. Would love your thoughts and recommendations. Thanks!!!
