"It will never scratch." (Until it Does)

So today I finally was near a Williams-Sonoma store to take another look at Nanobond. A helpful clerk approached, who informed me that the "thousands of nano layers" meant that the line is "mostly titanium". There were a few more doozers told, but the one I was waiting for was: "This will never scratch." When it came and my eyebrow did the full Huckabee-Sanders, the clerk nodded sagely. She pointed to a weird brown scrubbie pad with a leather-bound, embossed Hestan logo. "Go ahead, do your worst."

I explained that it was very important to me that I be able to use metal utensils, so I'd like to try one before I spent $400 on a medium saute. Ms. LeClerk smirkingly retrieved a serving spoon for me and folded her arms. "A lifetime of this kind of use..."

Well, I don't know how many eternal nanolayers that mortal spoon removed, but *one pass* of unhardened 18/8 did this.
The scratch is just to the right of the reflection.

LeClerk stifled her surprise, and gamely moved on: "It will last forever."

Riiiiight...
