Saturday night solo dining?

Julie | Oct 22, 2002 06:56 PM

I'll be roaming Chicago solo on a Saturday, and I'd love some suggestions on a place to eat dinner (perhaps not far from my hotel, the Palmer House, but perhaps also in Lincoln Park). Price is not an object, but key to the decision are good solo-diner seating, great food, and small portions (I'm small too, and I want to be able to eat a lot of things!) I am happy to make a reservation, if necessary.

I did eat alone at Frontera Grill earlier this year. Most of the food was good, but the portions were monstrous and I was seated at a tiny, deafeningly loud counter area squashed in next to the kitchen. Good for seeing what the food looked like before I ordered it, but not terribly congenial for actually eating.

(By the way, I read the "solo dining" post on this board from July, but for some reason I am not seeing any posts from earlier than June 2002.)
