I ended up at Santucci's Pizzeria on Route 1 in Norwood on Sunday more or less by accident, and I'm glad I did. That's the closest I've had to a New York-style pizzeria pizza since I moved to Boston.
I ordered two slices of cheese and a soda, total cost $5.78. The pizza was excellent: A thin crust that was very crispy on the bottom and a little soft on top; a very thin layer of tomato sauce that wasn't sweet; and just enough cheese to cover the sauce. There was very little grease, which I suppose would mean points off in the authenticity category :D They also had little canisters of oregano (major points with me), parmesan, and crushed red pepper.
I was also really impressed by the service. The girl behind the counter was very friendly and cheerful and brought the slices to my booth.
It was just one trip and I didn't try anything else (their menu is pretty extensive, with a lot of "gourmet" pizzas as well), but I have been thinking about that pizza for 48 hours now. It was damn good.
