I hesitate to post this up here. but Sonoma Crust is a tiny tiny place that puts out a GREAT chicken and waffles. i don't even really like chicken with waffles.
Service is slow. super slow, but i think i know why. they build your meal when you order it. they top the boneless chicken with a fresh green apple slaw.. i often wondered if they started dicing the apples after you order.
Every time i take a new person to the place and they take a bite for the first time it is the same sequence of events; the big ambition bite - then the dramatic pause - then the distant stare: as their brain re-calibrates for the flavor-party going on in their mouth. then it happens, the person speaks with their mouth full, "OMG!" their version of chicken and waffle is in the form of a sandwich. i ALWAYS get the spicy version where they coat one side of the fried chicken breast with an (unidentifiable in origin) sauce that i wish they bottled and sold separately. it is GREAT. spicy, sweet, salty. some jalapenos sprinkled into the slaw.
Patience. learn patience. order up your food and relax. today's order took 30 minutes (its been slower). The Beignets are awesome as well (they used to be gigantic - but today they were more reasonable in size). if you order them, they will come before the Sandwich 100% of the time. prepare for dessert before the meal. just saying.
It's a family business. the family works there, and their smiles are infectious. i have never ever been annoyed at the wait time. it's all good. the place is like on "island time".
