So if you were to ask me what kind of restaurant I'd like to see open up on Valley Bl. in Alhambra in the big shopping center at Almansor St., I would of course say "dim sum and Chinese seafood." And obviously so did everybody else, because the new Top Island Seafood is so crowded I couldn't fight my way into the place at 11 am on a weekday morning. At that normally quiet hour, people waiting to be seated were spilling out onto the shopping center sidewalk outside. Consequently I am unable to give a food report at this time. My only comments are that based on the dim sum take out sheet, Top Island appears to be a traditional, rather than nouveau dim sum operation. Also they seem to have the most extended hours of any Chinese dim sum and seafood restaurant, opening from 7:30 am to 3 am. I guess I'll either have to get up early or wait until the looky loo's are gone before testing the place. Top Island Seafood is at 740 E. Valley Bl., in the site previously occupied by the Sea Star buffet.
