San Diego North County Food Lovers -- Help!

Chowhounds -

A couple of days ago I posted a message looking for a good burrito in SD and while I have your ear, I thought I would ask what other places you guys like.

Here is my situation, 3 months ago I moved from San Francisco to Escondido (Work in San Marcos) and between work, traffic and unpacking boxes, I don't get out of North County often. Going to downtown SD or Hillcrest is great for the weekends but I want to know about good North County restaurants I can go to after work.

So far the best meal I have had In my area has been at the Olive Garden ( How sad is that!). I've tried a couple of Chinese places ( China Wokery and Chin's) and found them both lacking in flavor. The Mexican food has been either flavorless or filled with bad meat (very fatty/ tons of gristle). The one Indian place I tried was unremarkable. I got food poisoning from the nearby Thai place.

So please, please tell me about any restaurant in my area that serve quality, flavorful food. It can be a dive or a nice restaurant, I am comfortable anywhere.
I am sure there are good places out there, I just don't know about them. My coworkers only eat at places like Chili's or The Roadhouse Grill, so you guys are
my only hope of finding restaurants that I will like.

Thanks in advance for your help!
