As I mentioned in an earlier post, it's tricky to get San Diego Chowhounds to agree on the best Mexican food. I find that there are lots of places that I think are pretty good, but few that are fabulous. I tend to find one thing I like at a certain place and keep getting that. What restaurant do you think is all around great, or what is the must-have dish at your favorite place? How does El Agave compare to Candelas?
Items I like:
Pozole at Old Town Mexican Cafe
Fish taco or chile relleno burrito from Roberto's
Carne Asada burrito from La Posta de Acapulco #8 (Mr. Dumpling loves the artery-clogging California burrito)
Aguas frescas at Rancho
Tamales from the stand in front of the liquor store at El Cajon Blvd. and 35th St. (new discovery)
