The reports were half-true:
All of the normal menu entrees were available, plus some fun-looking specials such as a whole crispy fish. I had the duck and it was fantastic--delicious crispy skin--with lovely spicy polenta. However, there were only three choices for the appetizers--the TenPenh salad, a fish chowder, and the spring rolls. They were good, though. Everyone was happy with their meals. I had tastes of everything, am happy to report that it was all just as it should be, nothing overdone, and everything came out hot and correct despite our being a large party and changing seats around.
Altogether a very nice experience. It was very busy, but not crazy. Our waiter was very nice except a bit condescending about the wine. He brought me the wrong wine and then insisted that it was right. He also "explained" to us about the different varietals of red. That was a real howler. "You'll find that pinot noir is a much lighter-bodied wine..." etc.
HOWEVER, I would assume that this was because it was restaurant week, and because we were a large table of 20/30somethings. Otherwise the service was good.
