my first visit to Tucson - and the first thing I did was to get my rental car and head out to Ruiz Hot Dogs on S.6th Ave and E. 22nd St. it's a truck with a large canopy over the tables in the corner of a lot across from a large white church. All they offer is Sonoran Hot Dogs and drinks - and they toast their buns on the sides and top! It's a bacon wrapped dog with beans, onions, and some squirts of a few sauces. It's delivered to you at the table and then you can go to the coolers and add any additional toppings ( free ) - a thin avacado sauce, shredded cheese, green sauce, sliced mushrooms, etc ..... it's a mess to eat but I loved it! I also tried a Sonoran Hot dog from El Guero Canele - it was good but the untoasted bun disintegrated quickly and was too mushy when compared to the buttered toasted bun from Ruiz. The Canele dog was still tasty but I definitely prefer the Ruiz dog. El Guero Canele is enclosed and more comfortable although not fancy.
