Roaring Fork or Roaring Fork?

thebodytx | Jul 1, 2009 01:41 PM

Had seen some postings about Roaring Fork in north Austin and decided to try it for lunch, if they were open. I googled Roaring Fork Austin; the first entry was:

Roaring Fork Austin LLC
111 Lavaca Street
Austin, TX 78701
(512) 583-0000
Without really looking at the list closely I called and was informed "there is no Roaring Fork branch in north Austin".

Checked the second entry from Google:

Roaring Fork Stonelake
10850 Stonelake Blvd
Austin TX 78759
(512) 342-2700
Called the second entry and went for lunch. Asked the receptionist about the two Roaring Forks; she replied "oh, we're here and there is another one downtown, at 7th and Lavaca".

Checking the addresses I found that the Roaring Fork Austin LLC at 111 Lavaca is really III Forks. And the Roaring Fork at 7th and Lavaca is really Eddie V's.

On to the review. My wife had Tortilla Soup and Mexcian Corn. She loved both; the soup was served by setting a bowl containing garnishes on the table and pouring hot soup over it. The corn was on the cob (two), grilled and sprinkled with spices.

I had the "Big Ass Burger", cooked medium. Got what must have been at least a 12-ounce patty served on a sweet bun and nicely pink on the inside; accompanied by a cast iron pot of french fries. Burger was juicy, with lots of flavor. Fries were not the best I've ever had , but pretty good. Burger was well worth the $13.

If anyone has an explanation for the naming confusion I'd love to hear it.
