River North Pizza by the slice, redux

On a recommendation that arose from my posting seeking good pizza by the slice in River North, I tried the pizza from delicious, which took over the Marcellios space on Erie, between Orleans and Franklin. I'd always liked Marcellio's pizza, although I thought it was too heavy on the cheese and suae, leading to a soggy crust.

delicious seems to be affiliated with the Marcellio's folks, as I recognize a few of the same people. They've redone the space, and it looks quite nice--kind of a diner look, white tile and chrome.

Most importantly, the pizza is, dare I say it, very good--and maybe even approaches the holy grail of numerous posters, the New York slice. They've cut down on the cheese and sauce, so the crust stays pliable, yet crisp on the bottom. Its an easily foldable slice. I tried the pepperoni, and found it a nice combination of flavors--no one element dominating. I'd be curious if anyone else has tried it, and would welcome their thoughts.

FWIW, I have no interest in reviving a NY vs. Chicago slice debate. The slice from delicious is good, one of the better slices I've had in the city. Maybe not NY standards (though I've had some shitty slices there), but a good effort and one worth seeking out.
