New Ripe Juice Bar on Austin St.

I picked up lunch from Ripe today and it was pretty good. For starters, the space isn't very huge (just about 5 tables, similar to Crepe 'n' Tearia, though there is outdoor seating) but it is clean and painted in bright colors. The girl at the register was incredibly friendly and upbeat, and the people making the juice orders behind her seemed to be very fast and efficient. The juice bar just opened up last week, so it will be interesting to see if this good service continues as the months pass.

There is a big menu of various salads, wraps, panini, grilled burgers and personal pizzas, plus workout shakes, fresh juices and smoothies--it took me a fairly long time to order because there is so much to choose from. I finally went with a "terrific teriyaki" wrap and made my own smoothie combination with mango, strawberry, fat free yogurt and honey.

The wrap was a perfect lunch option. Deliciously marinated teriyaki chicken (on the dry side, but still good) with brown rice, onions and tomatoes in a sun dried tomato wrap (you can also get a spinach, plain flour or whole wheat wrap), and a good sized portion for $7. My smoothie ($2.75 for a 12 oz.) was made with fresh fruit and very refreshing. I hate cloyingly sweet smoothies like the ones at Jamba Juice, but this had no additional sweetners other than the honey and it was great.

I'll definitely be back to try the other tasty-sounding options on the menu.
