If, like me, you are fortunate enough to reside in the paradise that is the East Bay, yet unfortunate enough to not get by Rick's Quality Meats by 7 on weeknights, there is hope! Saturdays is what it's called. This weekend I got smoked chicken, very sweet and juicy; enough smoked brisket for the weekend; and a couple pounds of lamb stew, but that's another story. The smoked meats did not taste all that strongly of smoke, just meaty and good, but somehow they imparted an essence of woodsmoke to my hands, face, shirt, and kitchen. Just lovely.

Also in stock when I went by were smoked pork loin, good firm texture and delicate flavor; and bone-in smoked pork chops. I suggested smoking some lamb one of these days, well, it seemed like a great idea to me.
