Reverse sear frozen New York steak?

ppatmag | Feb 24, 201710:48 AM     2

I always use the reverse sear for my steaks... I recently purchased through Crowd Cow, and the steaks came to us frozen solid.. I have heard about cooking steaks from a frozen state, but have never done it.

I googled it, but am only seeing posts of doing a pan sear, then oven baking to finish. The problem I am seeing with this is that my steaks are not totally flat, so they wont get a uniform sear since they are frozen and wont sit flat.

Has anyone reverse seared from frozen? The other thing I am wondering is will the salt/pepper adhere to the steak while frozen, or should I season after the steak sits in the low oven for a bit?
