Return of Tu Lan

canard | Feb 20, 2004 10:40 PM

Notes on the reopened Tu Lan:

It's infinitely cleaner, with fresh paint, a new ventillation system, and new window above the door replacing the manky broken fan.

The ambiance hasn't changed; they still have the faux wood panelling and the "michelob bia" mirror. I was relieved that it hadn't been lovlified.

Food, service, and prices are exactly the same. In my opinion that's excellent, spotty, and ludicrously cheap.

I'll never love it the way I loved Hung Yen, but Tu Lan makes a great second-favorite VN dive.
