I've stopped ordering crabcakes in most restaurants because many have a generic bland taste...well, I saw why yesterday. I passed a non-descript Manhattan restaurant yesterday morning that was getting its delivery. Boxes of frozen "fishcakes" were being hauled into the restaurant's delivery area. I stopped and checked the menu - "Maryland crabcakes."
I realize many restaurants use institutional-size commercially prepared ingredients like salad dressing, frozen pancakes, chicken cutlets, Buffalo wings and calamari, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But 'fishcakes' - I wonder how much crab is really contained in them.
