Yesterday I went to the AC Market, south of Raleigh, and found that they've finally opened their restaurant. They had a steam table buffet--three items over rice for $3.99, and an array of chopped meats and meal-sized soups.
The food, as far as I can tell from my one steam table meal, is unamericanized. I had Szechuan bean curd, which was spicy and tasted of chinese cooking wine, a nice pork with preserved vegetable, and some fine sauteed string beans.
There's also a bubble tea/vietnamese sandwich bar open until 7:00PM.
The food here seems to be better than at the Grand Asia market in Cary.
Also, Taqueria La Poblana in Durham makes their own tortillas for their tacos. They're at the Northwest corner of Club Boulevard and Roxboro Rd.
