I spent all day Sunday and Monday at the Fancy Food Show in NY and it was, hard to believe, even bigger than last year! 1800 different vendors. The Italian section (meats and cheeses and wines and oils) was huge! Paul Prudomme was there in his thinnner state but did not look well. I missed Emerill as I was at other end. Bobby Flay was cooking as was Lidia.
Saw a bunch of Philly's food purveyors including Ed from Chef's Market and Joe Wolf.
The theme this year, besides bread dipping oils - last year's big thing - was ginger in everything! And I never saw so many products with Key Lime as the flavor!
Found a few marinades that I'm anxious to try. The real hoot was the Patti Page maple syrup! She and her husband have the trees. He invented and patented a special bottle cap for their syrup jars. When you unscrew it and put it to your ear - yes your ear - it plays Patti's recording of Tennessee Waltz! (She was there in the AM but I was eating parmesan and tasting wines!).
