I've tried to appreciate different store-bought olive oils in the past, but invariably found them too harsh to enjoy in and of themselves, and just stuck to the basic Costco extra-virgin. However, the olive oil I picked up from the Regusci winery on the Silverado Trail has made me see the light. Just an incredible amount of flavor, and no harsh aftertaste, great for adding to things like fish soup, etc. I would imagine some other Napa olive oils are excellent as well (any recs?) - there was an article a while back in the Wall St. Journal that custom-pressed estate olive oil is the new wine country status symbol . The Regusci wines are excellent too.
