Based on skylineR33 suggestion, I had dim sum lunch at Regal16 today after a 6 months hiatus!. The reason for the long period of absence was mostly due to a couple of previously disappointing dinner including one that involved a mediocre tasting undercooked sharksfin!
Well, upon being seated, I was being greeted, not by the wait staff, but a smiling skylineR33 and his cute son! What a nice new year chow coincidence and surprise!
Again, we ordered the usual traditional offerings including Har Gow, Fried shrimp dumplings with mayo friuit salad, pan fried taro cakes, beef tendons in Szechuen sauce, Beef Tripe, Char Siu Bao, fried glutinous rice with diced preserved sausages and meat, minced pork and preserved radish sesame wrap, fried chicken wings, egg tarts, fried taro croquettes..etc. Pity the braise beef brisket and tendons were sold out!
Well, apart from the un-impressive taro croquettes( Regal Palace version was much better ), as eluded to by skylineR33, every dish was executed pretty well. The Har gow was filled with big crispy shrimp and ' bamboo shoot'. This should make ace123 and aser happy! Ha! Compare to Regal Palace, the revived Regal16 is definitely a slight notch better. ( We did not order any rice noodle cheung fun to see if their version was presented 'cool' too! Ha! ).
All in all, a fairly satisfying dim sum lunch and definitely a place to consider for Dim Sum in the Richmond Hill area!
