Finally got to Reef Cafe, and was floored. Couldn't be a less imposing little storefront space, but the food, oh! The lamb kebab plate had the tastiest, best-cooked chunks o' lamb in recent memory: juicy in, charred out, perfect. Every little side was good, too: rice, the excellent salad of diced cucumbers and tomatoes, the grilled cherry tomatoes, red onions, and big Spanish onion.
My friend had what is easily the best felafel sandwich I have tasted in this town, largely but not soley due to spectacular, fava-based felafel.
Other sides (we overordered a bit in our frenzy to try): very creditable spinach pies, thin and large and fresh-tasting, and one kibby ball, with nice crunch in the batter and lots of savour in the filling.
Cheap-cheap-cheap ($20 for all this plus a couple of soft drinks), and run by very friendly and nice people (Mom came out from the kitchen, and got the gist if not the literal sense of our effusive thanks in English). A little bit of heaven for vegetarians and carnivores alike.
Pfwhoah! Must. Come back. Soon.
