I've lived in the DC and Alexandria for over a year, and I have to say that going out has been a bit of a disappointment. Every once in a while we stumble on a gem, and of course we become regulars.
Here is a list of some restaurant (good taste and reasonable prices).
La Piazza - Alex
Bombay Curry Company - Alex
Cafe Monti - Alex
Saloon - U Street
Ben's Chillie Bowl - U Street
Andale - Navy Memorial area
El Rinconcito - Columbia Heights
Can't think of the ethiopian place name in Adams Morgan - Blue front
Taverna Lebanese - Upper Wisconsin
Mancini's - (Bakery only) Alex
Evening Star Cafe - Alex
Can anyone recommend any other places to go out? Non-chain restaurants please. Local chains sometime turn out to be good, but my experience is that if the owner (or a close relative) is not there. The food and the service is lacking.
