For Xmas, I received a OXO mandoline. I know I can make gratins with it, but what else can I use it for? I've leafed through some of my cookbooks and looked at Pepin's techniques book. Everything seems to be oriented around a potato. I plan to use it for slicing the cabbage for the new year's tradition of cole slaw and I know you can slice other veggies with it.
Any other suggestions? I'm a moderately experienced home cook so I'm willing and able to experiment but would prefer relatively easy things to start out with. Thanks for any help!
