After being so undecided where to go for my husband's birthday(Chanterelle, Lutece, Esca's garden,Jean-George) I got a table from the Opentables.com website (great!) at Cafe Boulud -- we went late (9:15), it was a beautiful evening, and got a table outside. They have about 6 or so tables outside in a very cozy-garden-y space in front, lovely. From the first (my rasberry champagne cocktail and his rum/citrus one) to the last (my fromage blanc with wild strawberry dessert and his warm, molten chocolate tart with birthday candle) it was divine. Exceptional attentive service, wines by the glass paired with our dishes, the most delicious Poire William I've ever had (even in France!)And the bill was not at all outrageous for all that we had. Not to mention the basket of freshly baked madeleines that came at the end, we ate them all. A totally delightful evening.
