Questions regarding restaurants on Highway 61:Madidi's in Clarksdale, K.C.'s in Cleveland, and Doe's in Greenville

We will be passing though Clarksdale, Cleveland, and Greenville MS in early April. As well as Vicksburg and Natchez. Our intention was to look for good, local, casual food places (bar-b-cue and, apparently, tamales, based on my reading of Southern Belly). However, I have seen reference to Madidi's, KC's and Doe's.

My questions are:

-Would you recommend Madidi's and KC's on a first trip down Hwy 61? That is, are they unique? Otherwise, if they are (simply) comparable to very good upscale restaurants in more urban areas, then I would prefer to stay with more down home places.

Which local bar-b-cue/tamale/catfish/soul food places would you recommend in each of these cities? And, in Vicksburg or Natchez? Or any points in between?

From various sites I've noted Abe's Bar-b-cue, Oscar's Tamales, Solly's Tamales, and the White Front Cafe.

-How about Doe's? Are the steaks really that good? How about the tamales?

Am I correct that Doe's is open only for dinner?

I know, this is a lot to ask. We are going to spend some time in Louisiana and then on for our first tirp to Austin. We know Louisiana fairly well, and have a lot of information on Austin. However, we know little about Highway 61 though Mississippi.

Any informations would be appreciated.

Thank you.
