Queens West (LIC) Dining

In the first thread below, someone raves about the L.I.C. Cafe and I agree that it is very good. But this week I had dinner at Tournesol, lunch at Bella Via, and takeout from Fast & Delicious (owned by the Brasil Coffee House).

As someone who has lived in the hood for a number of years, all I can say is WOW!!!

We had another great meal at Tournesol, we had mussels, duck terrine, a melon and goat cheese appetiser, cassolet and a nougat on a rasberry coulis. Everything was great!!! The place has a great buzz. It is now open late, (I believe they serve until 11:30 p.m. and they now take American Express).

Bella Via has always had good food, but their service has now improved. We had their grilled calamari, a beet salad, pizza and fish with mustard sauce. Everything was fabulous!!! They may make the best pizza in Queens (in a wood burning oven). They will soon have a liquor license and they deliver.

Fast & Delicious has the best roast chicken in the city. I like it better than Pio Pio in it's prime. The chicken was moist with a perfectly crispy, garlicy skin. Wow!!! Their sides were good too. They have a steamed vegatable of the day, oven fried potatoes, and wonderful rice. They deliver too.

They only complaint about the food in the neighborhood remains the new Philly's Smoke House. They continue to advertise heavily. I have spoken to many people who have tried it, but have yet to hear something positive, although some like their beer. Has anyone heard anything positive????
