Quality Informal Flatware for Oxymorons

Jim Leff | Jun 14, 201912:09 PM     9

It's hard to find nice informal flatware. I bought a set of this at Target 15 years ago (see photo). You can see that unlined copper is starting to appear. Yikes. Guess I need to replace.

That enamel-handled look is fairly popular, but it's mostly made cheaply in China, and seems to be even worse than 15 years ago, with tales of cracking and dishwasher melting, etc.

I did find a nice French-made version, and it's beautiful, but YIKES $90 per setting: https://www.yvonne-estelles.com/produ...

A slightly cheaper set from same Frenchy company: https://www.amazon.com/Sabre-Flatware...

I've searched vintage flatware sets on eBay, but it's mostly formal stuff.

Any suggestions (I'm fine with vintage)? Or is $360 (hmm...$274 with shipping direct from Sabre, but still a lot) just what one must pay for non-crappy flatware these days?

As a member of the nearly vanished middle class, I often find myself caught between drek and pretension...

This is a fork.
