Polynesian, Micronesian or Melanesian food?

eetspa | Jan 17, 2009 11:13 AM

I'm very curious. Is there any Pacific Island food in Manhattan to speak of? I'm aware of L&L Hawaiian on Fulton Street but have no interest in eating there again.

I'm looking, but not expecting to find, food or restaurants serving Polynesian (Hawaii, French Polynesia, Tonga, Samoa etc), Micronesian (Guam, Palau, the Marshalls, Northern Marianas, FSM, etc) or Melanesian (Papua, Fiji, Vanuatu, the Solomons, etc) cuisine. I'm even looking for places that might have just one or two dishes from these regions.

This type of food is VERY hard to find anywhere, especially on the East Coast. Thanks in advance for any thoughts of ideas. I know its a very unusual request!
