Hello! I'm planning a surprise trip to Philly for my boyfriend the weekend of the 12th. We'll be arriving in the city Saturday morning from DC, staying at the Latham Hotel (I think it's in the center city area) on 17th and Walnut. My plan is for us to start with a visit to the Cheese steak corner area and get one cheese steak each from Geno's and from Pat's (both with Cheez-Wiz, which I am not used to!).
We'll then head to the Dali exhibit for the day, and have dinner reservations at Matyson later on. We're on the waiting list for Django. Then we'll be heading to a little lounge called Noche for drinks.
In the morning, breakfast at the hotel is included, and before we head home we're stopping at the Reading Terminal Market for a bunch of goodies for the trip back as well as lunch.
My questions are: What is the one can't-miss restaurant we should be focusing on for Sat. night? Our price range is really flexible. Where are the city's BEST cheese steaks? Is it Tony Luke's, not the one's I mentioned?
Where should we hit for food on the way out? Should we do Reading Terminal Market first and cheese steaks before we leave? My main concern is the restaurant for Sat. night, and I am not used to BYO restaurants. Are they worth checking out? What wine should I bring? Please help a food lover plan a special trip in a very limited time frame and get the most out of your beautiful city!!!
