Placido Domingo Restaurant

What a wonderful surprise. Placido Domingo's
Restaurant at 209 East 49th Street (between 2nd and
3rd) was a wonderful experience.

My mother was visiting from Florida this last week and
as a final day in the City we ventured out to the
museums with my girlfriend. After a full day of
walking we were all ready for a nice dinner and a
chance to get off our feet. We somehow found
ourselves outside Placido's Restaurant and we were
tempted by the Spanish menu as well as the need to
finally sit down for awhile.

My mother had the Veal, my girlfriend had a breast of
chicken with garlic and I had the Seafood (house
speciality) Paella. We even tried their drunken black
beans. We shared a nice bottle of Chianti wine from
their wine list. Everything was very well prepared,
looked great and tasted even better. The wait staff
was very attentive and accommodating.

As my girlfriend was explaining to us how she always
heard stories about people seeing celebraties in the
City but how she had never had a first hand experience
of her own. I watched as Placido Domingo himself was
approaching our table from behind her. He stopped by
and greeted us. Needless to say my girlfriend was
very surprised and my Mother went back to Florida with
a very nice story to tell her friends.

We had a lovely evening, prices were very reasonable
and I hope you will get a chance to enjoy it too
