In late September, I went to Piq Niq for what turned out to be an excellent meal. I had been interested in a revisit ever since seeing their 10 year anniversary tasting menu.

We started off with the escargot - They were pretty good. fairly tender and the polenta is an excellent starch for the dish. I'm not sure I'd rank them alongside the buttery overdose that is escargot at Muse, but these ones opened us up nicely for the dinner to come.

For the main course, I had the Duck breast, leg and cassoulet. It was great to have a duck pairing, rare on the breast and the comfort food quality of the confit leg. Similar to the shortrib/tenderloin combo but with duck. The cassoulet was excellent. My partner had the cornmeal crusted Marlin with beets. Also excellent.

For dessert we split another item from the anniversary menu. The trio of desserts. The florentine was my favourite, but I'm a sucker for butter.

Service was excellent, decor has changed a bit, but not drastically. The menu has some really great bistro notes like that cassoulet. We had the Liberty School wine, which rounded the evening out nicely.
