Last weekend, I tried possibly the best dessert I've ever had in my entire life. I went to Babbo, Mario Batali's NYC restaurant, and had his new dessert: Pine Nut Crostata.
Of course it's impossible to find a recipe for this since it's so new, and no one on the NYC board seems to know either. I've heard from people that it is considered to be the Italian version of pecan pie; I can see the comparison. However, instead of pecans you use pine nuts, and the filling is much lighter in color (though similar in consistency) to that in the pecan version.
I'm wondering if this is an old-world recipe, or if anyone at all has one for something like this that I could work off of?
Oh, and he served it warm with buttermilk ice cream - HEAVEN!
