Joanie & I decided to capitalize on their heckuva deal tasting menu - $40 ($35 w/out wine). Languedoc is the featured region, and the bargain is offered every Sunday through till Dec 1st.
After studying the menu all day, I still wasn't able to reach any decisions, but as it turned out, Joanie & I covered all bases as we didn't duplicate for any of the courses.
My appetizer of stuffed squid with a pine-nut & raisin stuffing and chickpeas & roasted red peppers was pretty good, although I only tasted raisin on one bite (not complaining as I'm not a big raisin fan in the savory context). Squid had nice texture, and stuffing contrasted the elasticity nicely. Decent glass of white wine (don't remember the details of it that were mentioned -- too focused on the grub).
Brandade de Morue rosti cake with stuffed zucchini and garlic aioli was damn good. The fish was a little too salty for the portion that was given (big-ass cake), but not enough to make me stop eating it. Zuccini was cored and stuffed with something simple (parmesan, breadcrumbs, couple of other things), but good. Good red, again, don't remember details though.
Two slices of some very rich cheese, one cow's the other sheep's. Good stuff.
I recommend it. Especially on Sunday.
Joanie will tell you about her bites.
